Syrian Judicial Council
The Syrian Judicial Council was established in 2012 and includes most of the 60 judges who defected from the Syrian regime, and they are in different jurisdictions (civil, administrative, real estate and military). The Council seeks to achieve the principles of the rule of law, respect for human rights, and the achievement of justice and democracy in light of a true inclusive citizenship contract for all Syrians regardless of nationality, ethnicity, religion or any other consideration. The council has a bylaw that organizes its work, objectives, and the mechanism for electing members of its board of directors and its head, the application of Syrian law is the applicable law, except for laws and decrees that were issued for purposes and goals that violate human rights and international conventions. The Syrian Judicial Council is an independent council and is not affiliated with any party or entity.
